This small Brooklyn apartment's living area presented a common design challenge -- how to create a multi-functional, yet elegant space.
The apartment already had an "open concept" feel with the removal of walls between the kitchen, alcove and living/dining room. And, with the addition of multi-functional furnishings and storage, we created a dual purpose for each area. The entryway serves as an art gallery/home office; the living/dining room can accommodate up to 14 for
a sit down dinner party, and the alcove serves as
a den or guestroom, when floor to ceiling draperies are drawn. Rich velvet, mohair and silk fabrics throughout the space, in mulberry, brown and gold, add elegance and sophistication. Finally, gold and silver accents lend a formal touch.

Charlotte Neustadter came to interior decorating via a career change. An initial degree in corporate communication led to a ten-year career in the cosmetics industry. She has worked for Shiseido and Elizabeth Arden in the areas of marketing, training development and event planning.
As an event planner, while designing invitations, choosing color schemes and floral arrangements, she recognized how much she enjoyed styling the visual presentations. and discovered her innate sense of style. She subsequently enrolled at Parsons School of Design and found work with CjDesignNYC as an Associate Designer in 2001.
She received her degree in December 2003. After several years of assisting in the planning, specifying and execution of design objectives, she was ready to start her own decorating business, and in 2006 established CN Design Group.
CN Design Group creates warm, inviting interiors that work within each client's lifestyle and budget. And, while elegance is the ultimate goal, "form and function" are key. Old and new, antique and contemporary styles are cohesively meshed. Color palettes are introduced in paint, fabric and texture to infuse each interior space with a design that transitions smoothly from one room to the next.
